1829 First units of the London Metropolitan Police appear on the streets of the British capital, the city's first modern police force

Driving home today. As predicted, the Grum’s Day Trophy did not head my way on Friday, but it was good to see colleagues from my late teens to mid 20s, from the time before I moved away. Also, we had a great time with other friends a family. Back to work tomorrow.

Today is the annual golf tournament at Folke Golf Course, near Sherborne. It’s in honour of a former colleague, Mike Dennett known as “Grum”. He used to look after us when we were sheet metal apprentices at Wincanton Engineering in the 1980s. 
In the late 1990s, after I had moved to East Sussex, he was playing at Folke and had a heart attack and, unfortunately, he died on the course.
So today is Grum’s Day. Last year my brother and I were part of the winning 4. That was the first… lol, and probably the last, time I will be part of a winning team. I am not a great golfer for sure :)
