It’s Friday and on this day in history:
The Tale of Peter Rabbit
1902 Beatrix Potter's "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" is published by Frederick Warne & Co. in London
> > > Clint’s comment: Being a successful author is only a small part of what she achieved. On Beatrix’s death in 1943 she bequeathed fifteen farms and over 4,000 acres to the National Trust, including Yew Tree Farm, a gift which has protected and conserved this unique corner of the Lake District to this day… https://yewtree-farm.com/farm/

It’s Thursday and on this day in history:
Early Yacht Race
1661 Yachting begins in England as King Charles II defeats his brother James, Duke of York, in a yacht race from Greenwich to Gravesend
> > > Clint’s comment: Contemporary accounts, such as those by observer John Evelyn, noted a high-stakes wager of £100 (or 100-to-1). The concept of the pleasure yacht was imported from the Netherlands, where Dutch merchants and nobility used fast light boats ("jaghts"). The Dutch had recently gifted a luxury yacht named Mary to King Charles II in 1660 to mark his restoration to the English throne, sparking a royal fascination with sailing. £100 in 1661 is the equivalent of £13,000 today.

Happy Thursday

Put your hand on your heart. Feel that? That’s called ‘a purpose. You’re here today for a reason. Don’t give up and don’t give in. And above all, don’t let one or two dark clouds cover the entire sky. The sun is always shining on some part of your life. Sometimes you just have to forget how you feel, remember what you deserve, and keep pushing forward.
Keep in mind that we’ve all made mistakes. We’ve all made absolute fools of ourselves. We’ve let people take advantage of us, and we’ve accepted way less than we deserve. And sometimes, we too have given others way less than they deserve. Sometimes we let our priorities and our boundaries get ravished by the chaos of the day. But if you think about it, we’ve learned a lot from our bad choices, and even though there are some things we can never recover, and people who will never be sorry, we now know better for next time. We now have more power to shape our future.

❤️ Love you my beautiful family near and far and all my beautiful friends everywhere.

It’s Wednesday and on this day in history:
Orion Nebula Photographed
1880 American amateur astronomer Henry Draper takes the first photograph of the Orion Nebula
> > > Clint’s comment: It marked the very first time a nebula was captured on camera, proving that astrophotography could record faint celestial objects beyond human sight. Draper used early photographic plate technology and later improved his method in 1882 with a 137-minute exposure that revealed finer details of the nebula.

It’s Tuesday and on this day in history:
‘Bobbies’ Take To The Streets Of London
1829 First units of the London Metropolitan Police appear on the streets of the British capital, the city's first modern police force
> > > Clint’s comment: Sir Robert Peel founded the Metropolitan Police in 1829 as Home Secretary, earning him the title of the "father of modern policing". It replaced London's old, corrupt system of parish night-watchmen and part-time constables. Operations began on September 29, 1829, with officers patrolling the streets of Greater London. Nicknames arose from his name; officers were called "bobbies" or "peelers”.

Driving home today. As predicted, the Grum’s Day Trophy did not head my way on Friday, but it was good to see colleagues from my late teens to mid 20s, from the time before I moved away. Also, we had a great time with other friends a family. Back to work tomorrow.
It’s Monday and on this day in history:
William the Conqueror Lands in England
1066 William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy, lands at Pevensey Bay in Sussex, beginning the Norman Conquest of England
> > > Clint’s comment: Pevensey Bay is 4 miles from where we live. I have been close to it since 1994 when I moved to East Sussex. Still not been to Pevensey Castle… DOH… https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/pevensey-castle/

My Metropolis Friend Stelios, thank you for being a great connection. ❤️

Here's to all the people,

who get back up more times then
they are knocked down.
Who give more than they
ever expect to recieve.
Who still show love to
others, even when their
own hearts are broken. Who
smile through the sad times.
Who light the way for others.
Who spread laughter and joy.
Thank you for making the world
a better place.

Happy Monday
