To all you who need population, please look at the number of jobs available per person for what you own. Office buildings give $30000 but also provide 1000 jobs (that's 1000 more people at $30 per person) Buy modern flats which give $800 but only 1 job ($800 per person) or buy stuff that doesn't give jobs, like private universities and landmarks.
